Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Mine Maintenance Advisor

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mine Maintenance Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Mine Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the maintenance and repair operations for a fleet of mobile mining units. This role ensures the timely scheduling, coordination, and execution of maintenance tasks to keep all mobile equipment in excellent operational condition. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, a good understanding of mobile unit maintenance, and the ability to manage relationships with vendors and internal teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance for all mobile units to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Track and prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency, availability, and operational needs.
  • Work closely with Mine Dispatch to ensure any issues are reported promptly.
  • Liaise with external maintenance contractors and vendors for specialized repair services.
  • Ensure that all vendors and contractors meet performance and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
  • Monitor the condition of mobile units through regular inspections and report any necessary repairs.
  • Generate and provide reports on fleet status, maintenance costs, and any ongoing or upcoming needs.
  • Oversee the inventory of spare parts and ensure the availability of critical components for repairs.
  • Work with procurement teams to order necessary parts and supplies when required.
  • Track parts usage and ensure efficient inventory management to avoid delays in repairs.
  • Ensure all mobile units comply with safety regulations, standards, and local laws.
  • Conduct safety checks and audits regularly to prevent any potential hazards or violations.
  • Ensure that all maintenance work is completed in compliance with industry best practices and company policies.
  • Act as the main point of contact for mobile unit operators, drivers, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and guidance for any operational issues related to mobile units.
  • Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to minimize downtime and improve fleet efficiency.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of maintenance programs and suggest improvements to optimize performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Identify trends in maintenance issues and work to implement long-term solutions.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance coordination or fleet management, preferably in a mobile mining unit environment.
  • Valid driver’s license

LOCATION

  • This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario on a 14/14 rotation working rotating days and nights.
