Job summary

Lake Shore Gold in Timmins, Ontario is seeking a Mine General Foreperson (Mine Captain) to lead day‑to‑day mine site activities at Bell Creek. The role involves directing front-line supervisors, ensuring safety, production, and cost targets are met, and coordinating rehab work underground.

The successful candidate will have extensive mining experience, supervisory leadership, and a strong commitment to health and safety. Relocation to the Timmins area is required; this is a full‑time position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of related mining experience.
  • Three to five years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Supervisory common core required.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and computer skills are required.
  • A post-secondary diploma in mining technology or a related mining engineering degree would be considered an asset.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to work with minimal supervision and get the job done safely.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for health and safety of all personnel in their charge and contractor personnel; ensure safety incidents are investigated and recommendations implemented.
  • Day-to-day scheduling and control of functional mine site activities.
  • Plan and organize rehab work underground according to Engineering recommendations.
  • Ensure personnel follow company policies, procedures, and OH&S regulations for Mines and Mining Plants.
  • Ensure work is planned, resourced, and undertaken safely and cost-effectively.
  • Monitor daily KPIs and implement changes to meet safety, production, and cost targets.
  • Oversee daily logbook for accuracy and completeness.
  • Inspect headings and conduct ground control audits as required.
  • Ensure continuous training of supervisors.
  • Ensure daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings are performed.

Job description

We are looking to hire aMine General Foreperson (Mine Captain)to join our Bell Creek Minein Porcupine ON., on afull-time basis.The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.

Compensation: This position offers a compensation range of $130,000 – $145,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.

Vacancy Status: This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.

Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.

The role of the Mine General Foreperson will be responsible for day-to-day scheduling and controlling of the functional mine site activities in a safe and efficient manner. You will direct mine
operations through front-line supervisors. You will demonstrate the core values of Safety Health and the Environment and Code of Conduct of Lake Shore Gold.

Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, the Mine General Foreperson will have the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the health and safety of all personnel in their charge as well as contractor personnel, ensuring safety incidents are thoroughly investigated and recommendations implemented
  • Day-to-day scheduling and control of the functional mine site activities
  • Plan and organize all rehab work underground according to Engineering recommendations
  • Ensure that all personnel in their charge know and follow the company’s policies, procedures, and standards for work and safety, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants
  • Ensure all work is effectively planned, resourced, and undertaken in a safe and cost-effective manner
  • Monitor daily KPIs and implement changes to ensure safety, production, and cost targets are met
  • Oversee daily logbook for accuracy and completeness
  • Inspect headings and conduct ground control audits as required
  • Ensure continuous training of supervisors
  • Ensure daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings are performed by all personnel in their charge, know and follow the company’s policies, procedures, and standards for work and safety
  • Other tasks as assigned

Lake Shore Gold is located in Timmins, Ontario, a vibrant community of 45,000 residents that is a central hub for Northeastern Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex, located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.
