SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Mine Engineer Co-op Intern.

About Your New Role

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Engineering, the Mine Engineer Co-op Intern will develop a diverse skill set supporting various mine-engineering functions (planning, scheduling, surveying, ventilation, ground control, projects, etc.). They will create, design, and develop best practices for mining engineering processes to support goal achievement. The intern will model a safety culture that promotes health and safety for all employees within the Technical Services Department.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the planning team to develop short to medium-term strategies and provide guidance on mining processes.
  • Create production and development designs that meet industry standards and seek continuous improvement.
  • Assist with medium-term ventilation strategies and maintain short-term ventilation requirements.
  • Support Ground Control standards through fieldwork and analysis.
  • Coordinate with the Technical Services team to ensure focus and alignment.
  • Follow mine design programs, systems, and procedures.
  • Analyze data and prepare technical documentation for decision-making.
  • Participate in mine-related projects such as ventilation upgrades, feasibility studies, equipment procurement, and AFE preparations.
  • Engage with organizational partners to identify improvement opportunities and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Apply operational excellence methodologies to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Monitor performance reports and implement corrective strategies as needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through engagement and empowerment.

Your Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • High attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work professionally in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Must possess a security screening document or equivalent as per Mines Regulations, 2018, and maintain it throughout employment at their own expense.

Your Education And Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mine or Geological Engineering.
  • At least two (2) years of educational experience.

About Our Working Conditions

This position follows a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule at our remote camp, with travel arrangements from Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge.
