Job summary

Wesdome Gold Mines near Wawa, Ontario, is seeking a safety‑driven Red Seal electrician to support electrical construction, maintenance and compliance for our underground mining operation.

The role requires troubleshooting underground equipment, installing substations, pumps and ventilation systems, and maintaining documentation such as logbooks and eLogger records. It is a permanent full‑time position with 12‑hour shifts on a 7 on/7 off rotation, offering comprehensive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Red Seal 442A or 309A electrical license and mining certificates.
• Experience troubleshooting underground mobile/production equipment.
• Installation, maintenance, and commissioning of underground substations, pumps, and ventilation fans, PTOs, and starters.
• Ability to work in a safety-focused mining environment and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and health & safety teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all PPE is in place before starting each job.
• Notify supervisor of unsafe conditions and stop unsafe tasks.
• Liaise with the Joint Health and Safety committee on Health and Safety issues in Electrical Department.
• Maintain logbooks and eLogger shift reports for equipment.
• Provide electrical assistance to other departments as required.
• Work to electrical codes and standards CEC/OEC and Mining M421.
• Coordinate with operations during maintenance.
• Complete preventive maintenance and work orders.

About the Opportunity

The Mine Electrician is responsible for doing the electrical construction and maintenance of the mining operation and camp complex and ensuring compliance with health and safety and environmental regulations and policies. The incumbent is also responsible for performing repairs and doing preventative maintenance by following job procedures and using accepted industry practices, following maintenance directives from the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor or Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent, and planning jobs in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

You are a safety-driven, Red Seal–certified Electrician with a strong understanding of electrical codes and mining standards. You take a disciplined approach to safe work, communicate hazards clearly, and collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and health and safety teams. Skilled in troubleshooting mobile and fixed underground equipment, you bring a proactive mindset to preventative maintenance, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement.

Position Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Job Duties

• Ensuring all personal protective equipment is in place before starting any job as prescribed.


• Notifying the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor of any unsafe conditions that need to be corrected before any job is started and refusing to perform any unsafe task.


• Liaising with the Joint Health and Safety committee on Health and Safety issues in the Electrical Department.


• Maintaining logbooks on any equipment that require repairs or services logged.


• Helping to maintain accurate and detailed eLogger shift report logs.


• Providing electrical assistance to other departments when required.


• Performing all work to the applicable electrical codes and standards CEC/OEC and Mining M421.


• Working with mining operations to ensure a smooth liaison while any maintenance is being performed.


• Complete preventative maintenance and operational work orders as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid red seal 442A or 309A electrical license and certification.


• Common core certificates for mining operations.


• Ability to work with and troubleshoot electrical issues with underground mobile/production equipment.


• Installation, maintenance, and commissioning of underground substations, pumps, and ventilation fans, PTO’s, and starters.


• An aptitude for creating and maintaining a good work atmosphere with co-workers in maintenance and operations.
