Job description

Reporting to the Technical Services Supervisor, the successful candidates’ primary duties will involve preparing safe and accurate mine designs, including Block Plans and various infrastructure prints, while adhering to Kidd Mine engineering standards and Ontario mining regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare safe, accurate and timely mine designs including Block Plans, Driving Layouts, Raise Bore Prints, Drill Books, Blast Letters and Miscellaneous Holes such as raises, test holes, paste fill holes and various infrastructure using Kidd Mine & engineering design standards and Amine
  • Prepare prints with sufficient lead time so as not to cause delays to Operations.
  • Maintain A-mine database
  • Keep abreast of and apply updated Kidd Mine Design Standards and related Ontario mining regulations
  • Have designs approved and signed by representatives of Geology, Ground Control, Production Engineering, Operations, & Mine Engineering
  • Actively participate in weekly and monthly safety meetings.
  • Actively participate in all safety programs and initiatives.
  • Attend/participate in Block Plan Meetings

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mining or Mineral Technology or 5 years practical experience in an underground mine
  • Knowledge of mining processes
  • Strong math skills and a knowledge of natural sciences, especially geology and chemistry
  • Highly proficient computer skills, particularly ACAD and Amine
  • Ability to work in office and underground mine environments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to gather, analyze and interpret mining data

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts (Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.)
