Job description

The Original Cakerie is Canada's leading and largest privately-owned frozen dessert manufacturer. We have been experiencing exponential growth and as a result, we are able to offer Maintenance Millwright Red Seal / Apprentice with Power Engineer positions.

Responsibilities & Duties :

  • Provide mechanical expertise and support TOC in mechanical installation and maintenance of plant equipment and production assets.
  • Demonstrated ability and qualifications to diagnose a problem accurately and efficiently, take appropriate corrective measures to do root cause analyses for a permanent fix.
  • Repair equipment / parts in the shop if required and work with other trades groups to complete project assignments.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and in the maintenance shop.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Good sound understanding of GMPs, HACCP, CCP, Lean, 5S, SOP, WHMIS.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment. Keeps managers informed and takes responsibility for actions and decisions taken daily.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to interpret and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to problem-solve and bring value-added industry best practices to our organization.
  • Completing work orders in a timely manner, familiar with work orders and preventive maintenance cycle from initiation to closing.
  • Supporting other maintenance department employees with their job duties if necessary.
  • Attending / responding to food process machinery breakdowns in an adequate, effective and efficient manner.
  • Must be a hands-on person with knowledge of both mechanical and electrical aspects of the job.
  • Identifying, developing, assisting, and implementing improvements in food process machinery.
  • Have strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and prioritize.
  • PLC training, thermal imaging, ultrasound, vibration analysis is an asset.

Position Requirements :

  • Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Industrial / AB / ON / BC Millwright or Millwright Apprentice.
  • Must be a certified 4th class Power Engineer or 5th class in boiler and refrigeration.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing and / or pharmaceutical plant is a definite advantage.
  • Working-level proficiency in the English language, good reading, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • AM & PM shift open - hours assigned by seniority.
  • Be able to work flexible shifts, including overnight shift.
  • Be able to work OT as per the business needs.
  • 4 x 10 or 5 x 8 hours shifts.
  • Over and above job duties may be assigned related to the repair and maintenance of equipment & facility as per the business needs to support our manufacturing operations.
