Position Summary:

Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, the Millwright works as part of a high performing team to support the continuous and efficient production of a food manufacturing facility through preventative maintenance as well as responsive troubleshooting.

  • Analyzes and rectifies mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems relevant to plant equipment, production machines.
  • Applies and uses machine and testing equipment necessary to rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
  • Operates and understands the basic principles of operation and repair of packaging equipment and related materials used.
  • Reads, interprets, and understands mechanical, electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams.
  • Performs and has proper understanding of welding processes (i.e., arc welding, TIG welding, plasma cutter/welding, oxy-acetylene welding and brazing, and soldering process).
  • Installs, sets up, and calibrates different instrumentation, process systems and controls.
  • Performs and records all preventative maintenance functions, both manual and computer-based operations.
  • Adheres to safety procedures and makes proper use of all safety equipment when required.
  • Performs necessary adjustments, calibrations and configurations of plant weighing operations, metal detector, printer and label making equipment.
  • Fabricates basic machine parts, as required.
  • Calculates and provides mathematical solutions to mechanical problems, including electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems.
  • Provides suggestions and technical support to production and engineering, on an as needed basis.
  • Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.
  • Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
  • Ensures compliance with all product safety, legality and quality requirements.
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Specialized training in a recognized Community College program or completed Trade certification (Multiple disciplines/Dual ticket preferred).
  • 433A Canadian Millwright License required.
  • 3 - 5 years of work hands-on experience in a food or pharmaceutical production environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.
  • Strong ability and ability to drive action.
