Job summary

Irving Shipbuilding is seeking Millwrights in Halifax, NS to read blueprints, install and align equipment, and perform rigging and maintenance tasks.

You will work from drawings, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe operation of shipboard mechanical systems in a dynamic shipbuilding environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training required.
  • Industrial Mechanic/ Millwright Red Seal certification highly regarded (required where applicable).
  • Experience reading drawings, blueprints and procedures to plan work.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and execute work from drawings and procedures.
  • Install new equipment and perform alignment as required.
  • Plan and perform rigging, hoisting and moving operations.
  • Measure, layout, cutting and welding as needed for maintenance and repair.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and commissioning activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Irving Shipbuilding is seeking Millwrights in Halifax, NS.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Education Required:
    • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
    • Industrial Mechanic/ Millwright Red Seal
  • Years of Experience Required:
  • You must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this job
  • A pre-employment physical is required
  • A background check will be performed by the Company
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Areas of specialization: marine repair, shipbuilding and repair, structural construction
  • Read, interpret, plan and execute from drawings, blueprints and procedures
  • Installation of new equipment
  • Shafting and Main Engine alignment work
  • Plan and perform rigging, hoisting/lifting and moving functions
  • Measuring, layout, cutting and welding operations
  • Maintain and use tools and equipment necessary to perform job functions
  • Service existing mechanical components and systems where required
  • Preventative and predictive maintenance, testing and commissioning equipment

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
