Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform duties as outlined by the Provincial Government for Regulated Trade 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright.
• Maintain and use hand tools common to the trade.
• Perform preventive maintenance on welders, fixtures, and equipment.
• Read and interpret micrometers, verniers, and blueprints.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, drills.
• Have knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Line up shafts, couplings, motors, and drivers.
• Scrape and bed bearings, determine causes of breakdowns, and establish remedies.
• Evaluate press performance and troubleshoot lubrication systems.
• Repair equipment by welding or replacing parts.
• Establish wear points and perform overhauls and major repairs.
• Possess knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls.
• Safely handle heavy equipment, understand lifting capacities, and use appropriate lifting gears.
• Level and install heavy machinery, read manuals, blueprints, and sketches.
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment for moving or shipping.
• Perform welding, brazing, and use torches as needed.
• Perform floor layouts and alignments for equipment installation.
• Guide apprentices and helpers with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or equivalent practical experience.
• Certified Lift Truck Driver.
• Health and Safety training.
