We are a manufacturing facility that makes corrugated sheets and boxes. Nothing fancy, but everyone needs boxes, and we are busy and growing! We make boxes for some of the world’s largest suppliers, and we need people who want a career in manufacturing to be part of our Smurfit Westrock family.

The Smurfit Westrock Guelph facility is looking for a part-time Licensed Industrial Millwright 433A to work as part of the maintenance team. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the preventative, predictive and troubleshooting of production equipment. To be considered for this position, you must be able to work Monday through Saturday for up to 24 to 30 hours per week on one of the steady shifts as assigned (days, afternoons, or nights). All successful applicants must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal background check and pre-employment medical.

Job Duties:

  • Troubleshoot problems with plant equipment and facilitate and determine maintenance requirements. Ability to go to root cause of problems. Perform proper follow-up on repairs to implement long-term solutions.
  • Respond to breakdowns on plant equipment, facility, and building. Ability to determine the need for temporary solutions or permanent solutions based on time constraints given by production.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs and ensures regular checks and lubrication on all equipment.
  • Maintain operation of the boiler systems, heating, steam, and energy supply.
  • Assist in minor electrical repairs and reset safely.
  • Assists with the installation of plant equipment and occasionally assists in equipment design.
  • Know what fits are required for various services, including antifriction bearings and be able to make such fits.
  • Be able to handle heavy equipment safely and have knowledge of foundation work.
  • Assists in the development of the plant occupational health and safety program.
