Our Bus Facilities Maintenance office is seeking for a Millwright who is responsible for Carrying out inspection, installation, operation, preventive maintenance and remedial repairs of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and steam controls systems, equipment, tools, plumbing and HVAC systems.
Location: Steeprock Garage
Shift Days : Monday to Friday
Shift Time: 6:00 am to 2:00pm
What will I be doing?
- Operates, repairs, and maintains equipment, systems, and structures including activating and deactivating power supply to equipment at GO Transit facilities, including maintenance of passenger, bus and rail.
- Troubleshoots minor electrical issues, including disconnection and connection of power supply to the equipment.
- Prepares records for the Supervisor relative to inspections, work accomplished, deficiencies noted, vehicle, equipment and material usage.
- Operates and maintains assigned vehicles, equipment and tools safely in a clean and serviceable condition and keeps logs relative to their serviceability.
- Monitors the operation of on-site contractors as generally instructed and refers any problems to the Supervisor.
- Identifies parts, components and materials required for repairs and provides specifications for their purchase.
- Provides guidance to Plant Mechanics, and Plant Servicepersons assigned to assist in maintenance and repairs of equipment, systems, and various other facility repairs.
- Carries out emergency measures resulting from environmental or other accidents.
- Receives and verifies the delivery of various materials and supplies.
- Purchases parts, components and materials relative to facility requirements, under the direction of the supervisor and with prior supervisor’s approval
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Minimum of two years experience involving the operation and specialized maintenance of large facilities and of the associated equipment supporting bus repair including experience in gas cutting, soldering, brazing, gas and arc welding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Must have a working knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations, codes and health and safety regulations.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- An Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification.
- Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record.
- Ability to operate forklift, personnel lifts (scissor or telescopic) and/or other similar equipment.
- Must be able to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator’s Permit.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification.
- Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
Working Conditions
- Required to lift heavy equipment regularly.
- Exposed to variable weather conditions, noise, dirt, heat and fumes on a regular basis.
- Occasionally required to work in confined spaces using safety apparatus.
- May be required to work outside regular shifts and may be required to be on call.
