Job description

Viterra is seeking a Millwright at our Pacific Terminal. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of stationary industrial grain handling and cleaning machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reads equipment diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  2. Operates rigging equipment and dollies to place and move heavy machinery and parts.
  3. Fits bearings, aligns gears and shafts, attaches motors, and connects couplings and belts.
  4. Performs preventative maintenance inspections and checks on mechanical equipment.
  5. Performs alignment and tests equipment, making any necessary adjustments.
  6. Performs preventative and corrective maintenance as per recommendations from vibration analysis reports, oil sample analysis, etc. Repairs and replaces defective parts when required.
  7. Completes maintenance and operational repairs following all manufacturer and company procedures.
  8. Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems.
  9. Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic systems.
  10. Uses plasma cutting and welding equipment for fabrication of small parts required during maintenance.
  11. Maintains pollution control systems, dust collection and control systems, air-slides, grain spouting, material blowing, and other air systems.
  12. Maintains large vertical and horizontal conveying systems and their associated drive systems including transmissions, couplings, bearings, etc.
  13. Performs lubrication and oil replacement for conveyors, wheels, rollers, bearings, reducers, etc. Maintains and replaces auto-lubrication equipment.
  14. Installs, services, and repairs air handling equipment.
  15. Works alongside and assists other trades as required.
  16. Performs other related duties as required.

Position Requirements:

  1. Must be a certified Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) with an Interprovincial Red Seal certification.
  2. A minimum of 3 years experience in an industrial setting or comparable service work in the industry.
  3. Knowledge of industrial machinery including grain handling and cleaning equipment would be an asset.
  4. A solid safety record and good knowledge of health and safety policies and practices.
  5. Experience with conveyor and material handling equipment would be beneficial.
  6. Ability to work in a team environment and able to work on small projects with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and high work standards.
  7. Willing to work a 24-hour shift schedule (Day shift, Afternoon shift, Graveyard Shift rotation).

Compensation:

  1. Competitive hourly wage of 47.66
