Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.

The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

MILL OPERATORS (All Levels)

The Mill Operators are responsible for the safe and reliable operation and basic maintenance of Côté Gold's processing plant circuits. The Mill Operators will work collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Safe and reliable equipment operation.

  • Ensure that in all aspects of the operation, environmental policies and practices are followed keeping the preservation of the natural environment a priority.
  • Perform Lock Out and Tag Out procedures on processing equipment as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all pre-operational checks and procedural requirements to safely start-up, efficiently operate, and safely shutdown all process equipment.
  • Identify faults, troubleshoot, and report any deficiencies on all equipment.
  • Develop an understanding of all the mill circuits through training, reading, and hands-on experience.
  • Identify maintenance problems and maintain acceptable housekeeping in designated area.

Area 2

Operational excellence.

  • Seek opportunities to improve mill services.
  • Be proactive and solution driven.
  • Be diligent in mill operational workmanship, quality, and housekeeping.
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Continually seek to improve your skills as a Mill Operator.
  • Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
  • Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
  • Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost).

Area 3

Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
  • Share best practices and experiences with other operators to promote a strong and successful teamwork environment.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Requirements And Nice To Haves

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Mill common core and specialty modules are considered an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • 6 months of mineral processing experience,

and/or 2 years milling experience,

and/or 4 years industrial experience.

Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements

  • Computer proficiency is an asset.
  • Experience with Osisoft PI and HMI displays is considered an asset.
  • Communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure with sound judgement.
  • Sound knowledge of milling fundamentals.
  • Incumbents are required to be clean shaven (if applicable) and wear respirators at times.
