Job summary

New Gold Inc. is seeking an experienced Mill Operator for a 14/14 rotation at Rainy River, Ontario. You will ensure safe, efficient operation of mill circuits and collaborate with the operations team to meet production targets.

Ideal candidates have extensive milling circuit experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot DeltaV processes in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of milling experience.
  • Experience operating mill circuits (Grinding, Leaching, Reagents, Tailings, Crushing, Elution, and Control Room).
  • Knowledge of DeltaV or similar process control systems and troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and operating equipment.
  • Able to work safely independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to share knowledge with others.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to work 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (14/14).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor processing plant circuits (Crushing, Grinding, Leaching/Elution, Reagents, Detox, Tailings).
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and address them promptly.
  • Support safe and efficient operation and report unsafe conditions to the Mill Supervisor.
  • Develop knowledge of all mill circuits through training and hands-on experience.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas at all times.

Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role

Position: Mill Operator

Shift: 14/14 - Days and Nights

Position Reports To:Mill Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mill Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mill’s processing circuits, including monitoring equipment and operating conditions, identifying and responding to issues, and supporting consistent production. You will work closely with the operations team to ensure activities are completed safely, effectively, and in accordance with established procedures while contributing to production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor processing plant circuits as assigned by the Mill Supervisor, including Crushing, Grinding, Leaching/Elution, Reagents, Detox, and Tailings.
  • Conduct regular inspections of assigned circuits to identify operational issues and ensure they are addressed promptly.
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of all areas of the mill and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Mill Supervisor.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all mill circuits through training, technical materials, and hands-on experience.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas at all times.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in a milling environment.
  • Experience operating mill circuits, including Grinding, Leaching, Reagents, CND, Tailings, Crushing, Elution, and the Control Room.
  • Knowledge of DeltaV or a comparable process control system, with the ability to troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and computer-based operating equipment.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to take on different tasks and responsibilities to support the needs of the team.
  • Willingness and ability to share knowledge and experience with others.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable personal transportation.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts on a 14-days-on/14-days-off schedule.

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $80,000 to 98,000.
