Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging and rewarding position to join our Mill team:

Mill Operator

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the Mill Operator will be responsible for performing various duties within the Mill and supporting Mill crews.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Works and ensure all workers work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and all other applicable government standards and regulations;
2. Adheres to and enforces all safety and environmental considerations;
3. Adheres to and enforces the internal responsibility system and Five Point Safety System;
4. Ensures that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used, and removed from operations until made safe;
5. Assist or participate in daily safety meeting;
6. Follow-up on housekeeping;
7. Maintains working area and equipment in clean and orderly conditions;
8. All other activities entrusted by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. 1-2 years experience in an Ore Processing Mill;
2. Accreditation of basic Mill common core modules;
3. Able to operate heavy mobile equipment;
4. Able to perform heavy lifting;
5. Able to work at height;
6. Able to work in different workplace conditions such as heat, cold, dusty, noise, wet, chemical;
7. Self-motivated;
8. Capable of making decisions with minimum supervision;
9. Basic understanding of mill settings and related equipment such as ball mill, pumps, conveyors, crushers;
10. Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical functions;
11. Able to wear respiratory protection as required.

Schedule: 12-hour shifts following a 5-5-4 rotation, days/nights.
