Job description

The Inuulitsivik Health Centre, located along the breathtaking Hudson coast of Nunavik, is offering a rare and deeply meaningful opportunity to practice midwifery in a remote, culturally rich, and truly welcoming environment for the months of July and August for a minimum of one week.

At the heart of our work is INIA (Inuulitsiviup Nutarataatitsijingita Ilisarningata Aulagusinga), our Inuit midwifery education program. Celebrated across Canada and internationally, INIA is a powerful example of Indigenous-led training that empowers Inuit midwives and helps bring birth back to the communities where it belongs.

For many years, Inuit women were forced to leave their families and travel south to give birth. Today, thanks to the strength and leadership of our local midwives, and the success of this program, birth is returning home. Women can now welcome their babies surrounded by community, culture, and comfort.

We are urgently looking for midwives this summer to help ensure that Inuit women can continue to give birth in their own communities during the summer months. Even one week of your time could make a meaningful difference.

Hourly salary: $41.47 to $58.86
Multiple premiums applicable
Retention bonus
Cost-of-living bonus
Group insurance & pension plan
Employee and family assistance program

This is rewarding, meaningful work that truly makes a difference in the lives of Inuit families.
