Job summary

Duker Elementary School in McHenry, IL, part of the McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15, is seeking a Mid Shift Custodian to join our team. The position is 12-month, full-time, from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with ASAP start.

The successful candidate will perform cleaning, security, and light maintenance, follow safety rules, and maintain records. Benefits include full health insurance, IMRF pension, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Illinois Driver's license and ability to travel within district.
• Prior school custodian experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleaning, securing the building, and seasonal grounds duties.
• Responsible for ongoing maintenance and minor repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial equipment.
• Ability to read/interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions.
• Ability to work occasionally during non-scheduled work hours.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Set work priorities and work independently.
• Meet schedules and deadlines.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships, work cooperatively with others.
• Maintain records related to work practices and projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

PAY AND BENEFITS

1. $17.50/hour. The District can provide additional credit to candidates who have prior work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day. Typically including strenuous and considerable physical exertion involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to work on ladders of varying heights. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions.
