Position: Mid Compositor

Location: Toronto, ON (Remote)

Pay Range: $50.00 - $70.00 CAD hourly

Position Summary

The VFX Compositor role requires creativity and high technical abilities. They will take direction from the VFX and Compositing Supervisors and will also be expected to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment to deliver a high level of work.

The Compositor is often given the most complex and demanding shots to complete. They are expected to be generalists who can handle a wide range of compositing tasks from start to finish, including but not limited to compositing live action and CG, blue/green screen keying, camera tracking, photoreal CG integration, set extensions with matte painting projections, complicated removals, beauty work, and paint/rotoscoping.

Main Duties
  • Execute assigned shots efficiently under the guidance of Leads and VFX Supervisors, balancing creative and technical aspects.
  • Meet task schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintain an understanding of the VFX pipeline, color space, workflow, and industry-standard script layouts.
  • Communicate proactively with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.
  • Manage own workload, time, and feedback actions effectively.
What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in compositing using Nuke, integrating 2D, 3D, and live-action elements to high-end standards. They should be a team player with a positive attitude, able to problem-solve independently, and receptive to feedback. A good aesthetic sense with knowledge of color, light, and photography is essential. Additional preferred skills include:

  • Clean and efficient scripting and workflow organization.
  • Strong artistic and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of compositing techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Shotgrid, CG rendering, multi-channel EXRs, 2D and 3D tracking, IBK, Primatte, Keylight, Nuke's 3D system, colorspace pipelines, mocha, Photoshop, and Python scripting.
