Position Title : Microsoft 365 Purview and Modern Work Security Specialist

Location : Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)

Overview :

Charter is currently seeking one (1) experienced Microsoft 365 Purview and Modern Work Security Specialist to join our team starting August 2025. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of IT security experience, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 security and compliance. Previous experience implementing and governing Microsoft Purview compliance solutions, such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and eDiscovery across key Microsoft 365 services is required. Strong experience deploying and managing Microsoft 365 E5 compliance and security features, including Defender for Office 365 and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), is also required. Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid). Term: 6 months with a strong possibility of extension. Candidates must reside in the Vancouver BC area for the duration of the project.

Qualifications and Experience :

• Experience with Microsoft Purview compliance solutions, such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and eDiscovery.
• Strong experience implementing and managing Microsoft 365 E5 security features, including Defender for Office 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience designing and implementing Microsoft 365 compliance and security policies in regulated environments.
• Experience configuring and managing Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and Defender for Endpoint.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and gap analyses to identify and mitigate security and compliance risks.
• Experience developing and maintaining documentation, governance playbooks, and training materials for end users and administrators.
• Experience contributing to continuous improvement through metrics, reporting, and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Proven ability to collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and secure collaboration strategies.
• Active industry certifications are considered assets.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English are required.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
