Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Mississauga is seeking a Microbiology Technician to join our Canada FSC team. You will perform sample preparation, plate labeling, and basic analyses to support food safety testing initiatives.

Working in a collaborative laboratory, you will handle media preparation, incubations, and data entry in LIMS, while maintaining safety and quality standards. This permanent role offers growth in a global health-focused organisation.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent work experience with 1+ year relevant testing.
• Basic knowledge of science and laboratory safety procedures.
• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Time management, prioritization, and attention to detail are essential.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates to track client and sample numbers.
• Pipette samples into tubes or plates according to procedures.
• Pour agar and begin growth process for analyses.
• Incubate plates per specified conditions and times.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Maintain LIMS data entry and ensure accuracy of results.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Perform housekeeping to keep work areas clean and sanitized.
