We are currently seeking a Microbiology Technician to join our expanding team!

We have 2 positions available — 1 full-time and 1 part-time.

Job Summary

Prepare samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples. The role involves applying approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in analytical testing.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
  • Apply aseptic techniques in daily tasks.
  • Maintain media and reagents required for microbiological testing.
  • Inventory and report supplies needed for testing.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
  • Conduct quality control monitoring, such as incubator temperature checks, inoculating control organisms, and media controls.
  • Follow FSNS policies and procedures independently for assigned processes.
  • Maintain laboratory condition, including equipment, supplies, quality assurance, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
  • Share information openly and timely.
  • Assist in managing priorities and schedules to meet individual and team goals, contributing to the Food Safety Net Services team.
  • Ensure safety for oneself and others in the workspace.
  • Complete required training programs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of food testing laboratory practices and procedures.
  • Ability to travel is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
Physical Demands
  • Dexterity for operating a computer and handling communications and components.
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and pathogens.
  • Noise levels vary from quiet to loud.
  • Temperature conditions vary from hot to cold.
  • Engagement in fast-paced, team-oriented tasks.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Color vision and depth perception required.
