Job description

Position Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in this position.

Reporting Structure

The MI Generalist Sonographer reports to the supervisor and operates under the general supervision of a radiologist.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Perform general ultrasound examinations.
  2. Receive and complete requisitions, forms, and reports.
  3. Prepare and monitor supplies and equipment.
  4. Monitor patients during procedures.
  5. Operate ultrasound equipment and prepare patient data for radiologist review.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.
  • Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS certification as a Generalist Sonographer.
  • One (1) year recent, related experience in a healthcare setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.

  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Operate related equipment, including computerized systems.
