Job description

Join to apply for the MHSW Depot Supervisor role at GFL Environmental Inc.

  • Provide excellent customer service to residents visiting the depot.
  • Responsible for the operation of the Region of Halton MHSW Depot.
  • Supervise and train staff assisting.
  • Provide all staff with the required PPE and ensure they wear it at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of all workers, the public, and visitors to the site.
  • Perform physically demanding work.
  • Identify, sort, and pack waste chemicals into appropriate storage containers.
  • Weigh each material on-site (e.g., drums, gaylords, 20L Pails) and input the weights into the computer inventory tracking system.
  • Maintain clean grounds and facility.
  • Report any equipment that needs repair.
  • Comply with all rules and regulations related to depot operations.
  • Perform daily site inspections.
  • Complete daily reports of waste stored, received, and shipped from the site. Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office is required.
  • Maintain good communication skills to interact with Region of Halton Representatives and the public.
  • Report to and receive authorization from the MHSW Program Lead.
Working Schedule:
  • Work days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Thursdays and Sundays are days off.
  • Sunday shifts may be required during the summer season (4-hour shift).
  • The depot is closed on statutory holidays, including the Civic Holiday, except for Boxing Day.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Valid G License is mandatory.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in chemistry or environmental science, is an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience in MHSW, chemistry, or a relevant field.
  • Valid G License and own transportation are mandatory, as depots are usually outside of public transportation access.
