Reporting to the Director of Entertainment, the Production Manager will oversee coordination related to Technical Production Services for events at the Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of all stage and performance-related activities within the venues; organizing the technical requirements for all events including pre-planning, budgeting and staffing as well as the stage setup required based on information provided by facility users.

Position Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Entertainment, the Production Manager will oversee coordination related to Technical Production Services for events at the Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of all stage and performance-related activities within the venues; organizing the technical requirements for all events including pre-planning, budgeting and staffing as well as the stage setup required based on information provided by facility users.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a primary contact for events, both internal and external. Support the needs of venue users from end to end, including pre-planning, load-ins, set-ups, presentations, take-downs and load-outs.
  • Become the expert in all things related to the technical aspects of the room, and become an all-rounder in understanding the use, management, and maintenance of the equipment provided by the venue for use.
  • Participate in client meetings to provide specialized technical information and prepare initial estimates / quotes for services to in-house staff and clients and / or approve estimates prepared by coordinators.
  • Be a key player in the planning and preparation for programming by budgeting potential productions for the Entertainment department. Review post-event analysis for future planning purposes.
  • Responsible for scheduling and managing all stage technicians, provided by the Production staffing agency, for events.
  • Assist our Programming partners in understanding the parameters of the room and its technical elements, managing the needs and limitations, problem-solving different tour and artists' needs as they utilise the theatre, pre-empting their needs based on the riders and researching the acts and event.
  • Participates in production meetings regularly ensuring communication between departments for smooth running of events.
  • Prepare Production Event Service Orders (ESO) related to swift client billings and show settlements.
  • Work with Operations to develop a maintenance schedule for all built-in audiovisual systems provide input to the operating budget and assist in monitoring expenditures.
  • Promote and support a culture of health, safety, well-being and respect in the workplace. Ensures compliance with all relevant policies and legislation to maintain a healthy, sustainable and accident-free work environment, especially as it relates to industry-specific training and certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Qualifications

  • Certificate in technical production or in another discipline pertinent to the job function or equivalent combination of education and experience with specialized training related to theatre or concert production, including lighting, sound, digital media.
  • Extensive experience in facility and event management in a production event environment.
  • Solid computer and production technology skills, including knowledge of CAD or VectorWorks programs, Opera, Office 365 is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable codes, standards, guidelines and government legislation specifically the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, fire safety regulations and building codes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, demanding, and timeline sensitive environment.
  • Proven customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work days, evenings and weekends including holidays, as required to support operational requirements.
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
  • Bilingual (English / French) is an asset but not required
  • Work Environment Considerations

  • Work within a 24 / 7 operation with ability to work flexible hours when required (days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal record check with results acceptable to our organization, standards and position.
