Join Our Team as a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician at Johnson Electric!
Location: Ancaster, ON, Canada (onsite)
As our next Metallurgical Laboratory Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of quality assurance by evaluating and controlling metallurgical and dimensional characteristics of products through all stages of manufacturing. Your expertise in metallurgy, lab procedures, and data analysis will ensure that Johnson Electric’s components meet the highest performance standards.
• Conduct metallurgical and sediment analysis on regular production and new materials
• Follow IATF 16949 procedures for containment and corrective action when parts are out of spec
• Archive reports, maintain accurate records, and monitor powder properties
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and production gauging per required frequency
• Provide technical support to production and thermal operations
• Perform and develop preventive maintenance procedures
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (IATF 16949) and ISO 14001 standards
• Maintain and improve 5S and lean manufacturing practices
• Participate in continuous improvement and cross-functional problem solving
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Technologist graduate with minimum three years of post-secondary education in metallurgy or materials science (preferred)
• 1–3 years of experience in high-speed manufacturing with a focus on metallurgical engineering
• Powder Metallurgy Technologist (PMT) Level 1 Certification or actively pursuing
• Familiarity with analytical chemistry, statistics, and materials science
• Knowledge of production metallurgy and lab automation
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels
• High integrity, urgency, and results orientation
