The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Metallurgy Specialist to join our Technical Services team in St. John's, NL. Relocation to Newfoundland & Labrador is required for this role.This is a permanent position, working a Monday to Friday schedule in St. John's, with monthly travel to the Voisey's Bay Mine Site.As a Metallurgy Specialist, you will be the primary technical resource for the Concentrator operations, offering expert guidance on process fundamentals and supporting performance optimization. You will lead the development and integration of new technologies and process improvements that align with our safety standards, business goals, and evolving customer needs.Additionally, in this position you will:Oversee production accounting and quality control systems to ensure accurate reporting and reliable process evaluation.Develop and coordinate plant trials and metallurgical test programs, including process modeling and simulation to support optimization initiatives.Provide technical input and direction throughout feasibility studies, from early evaluation to process commissioning.Deliver targeted training and coaching to operations staff and peers to strengthen technical capabilities.Stay current with emerging metallurgical technologies and recommend opportunities for evaluation and potential adoption at Voisey's Bay.Plan and execute technical investigations in collaboration with internal and external experts, ensuring safe and timely delivery of results.Build and maintain strong networks with universities, vendors, engineering firms, and other industry partners to support innovation.Participate in hazard and safety reviews, offering process chemistry and metallurgy expertise to guide follow-up actions and risk mitigation.About You Education:Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry or a related discipline. P. Eng designation and/or Lean Six Sigma green/black belt would be an asset. Master's Degree in Engineering is preferred.Experience:A minimum of 8 years' experience in this field or a related area.
