Responsibilities

  • Transport internal mail, couriers, equipment, and other materials safely.
  • Identify items for transport and verify instructions for proper distribution.
  • Ensure safe and secure delivery of items, including obtaining signatures.
  • Maintain the bank's vehicle and report any maintenance needs.
  • Assist the department in various areas during downtime.

Job description

The Messenger Driver, Messenger Services is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation/delivery of goods, equipment, or personnel. The Messenger Driver, Messenger Services will be assigned to deliveries both internally and externally. During the Messenger Driver downtime, they will support the department with other duties.

The individual assigned to this role requires a strong focus on safety, vehicle care, and route efficiency. The Messenger Driver, Messenger Services should possess thorough working knowledge of all departmental procedures and will demonstrate a deep understanding of bank core values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Messenger Driver is responsible for the drop off and pick up of internal mail, couriers, equipment, and other material, addressed to Scotiabank from third party business throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
  • The Messenger Driver is responsible for properly identifying items to be transported and verifying instructions to ensure proper distribution.
  • The Messenger Driver is accountable for safe and secure transporting and delivery of both low and high value items which include obtaining signatures and using track-and-trace methods.
  • The Messenger Driver is responsible for proper maintenance of the bank's vehicle and equipment used to facilitate the transportation and delivery of items by reporting maintenance work and/or damages.
  • During their down time, the Messenger Driver will assist the department in all areas.
Requirements:
  • G Class Driver’s License. F Class an asset.
  • Knowledge of logistics.
  • Knowledge of GTA street geography.
  • Clean driving history.
Work Arrangement:

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Business operating hours are 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. Messenger Driver, Messenger Services would work 7.5 hours within those hours and they may vary depending on business needs.

Driver may be required to commence their day from various campus’

The position involves lifting to 750lbs at any given time, pushing pallet trucks, two-wheel dollies, packaging mail and material in the servicing of mail routes and fulfillment of service requests.

The external portion of activity exposes incumbent to driving in all weather conditions, construction and other daily hazards.
