Job summary

Sequeira Partners in Calgary or Edmonton is hiring a full-time Associate, M&A to support the continued growth of the firm. The role offers meaningful exposure to mid-market transactions, direct mentorship from senior deal team members, and a clearly defined path for advancement.

You will develop technical expertise, advise clients, build market relationships and contribute to deal execution while maintaining integrity, attention to detail and an entrepreneurial mindset in Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • Qualified CPA or completion of the CFE.
  • Enrolled or interested in the CBV designation.
  • Experience analyzing company financial statements and preparing financial models.
  • Experience with mid-market transactions including investment banking, corporate finance and/or transaction services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft client proposals, information memorandums, management presentations and other transaction materials with a focus on clear, polished outputs.
  • Conduct industry, company and buyer research to advise clients and identify opportunities.
  • Organize client data for marketing materials and deal teams.
  • Coordinate detailed buyer due diligence and manage data rooms.
  • Develop and maintain financial models including forecasts and valuation analyses.
  • Support market intelligence and business development initiatives.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Sequeira Partners is hiring a full-time Associate, M&A to join our office in Calgary or Edmonton and support the continued growth of our firm. This is an opportunity for a driven professional who wants meaningful exposure to mid-market transactions, direct mentorship from senior deal team members, and a clearly defined path for growth from Associate through to senior leadership. The successful candidate will bring strong academic achievement, technical curiosity, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in becoming a trusted advisor to business owners across Western Canada.

At the Associate level, you will build your professional foundation: developing technical expertise, learning how to advise clients, contributing to market relationships, and strengthening the entrepreneurial mindset required to succeed in M&A.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Material Preparation, Research, Due Diligence, and Deal Execution
  • Draft client proposals, information memorandums, management presentations and other transaction materials with a focus on clear, polished and client-ready work product
  • Conduct and summarize industry, company and buyer research that helps senior team members advise clients and identify transaction opportunities
  • Organize client data into useable outputs for marketing materials
  • Coordinate detailed buyer due diligence, including managing electronic data rooms and reviewing materials to be provided to potential purchasers
  • Research and analyse prospective purchasers, sector participants and referral relationships to support both active engagements and business development priorities
  • Maintain target lists in Sequeira’s project management system
  • Take clear, organized meeting notes and help maintain client folders, correspondence and project files so deal teams can work efficiently and confidently
  • Input, organize and analyze financial information to support transaction models, valuation analyses and client deliverables
  • Develop, review and maintain financial models including forecasts, earnings analyses, discounted cash flows, leveraged buyout scenarios and merger models, while building strong self-check habits and attention to detail
  • Research comparable transactions and industry trading metrics in support of private company valuations
Business Development Assistance
  • Conduct industry and target-company research to identify prospective clients, understand targeted businesses and contribute to Sequeira’s market intelligence
  • Market mapping of prospects for Sequeira’s target geographies and industries
  • Maintain Sequeira’s database/lists of business development targets
  • Draft presentations to prospective clients and influencer groups
  • Participate in firm initiatives such as newsletters, market updates, research projects and targeted business development campaigns
CREDENTIALS
  • Qualified CPA or successful completion of the CFE
  • Enrolled or interested in the CBV program, with the expectation of obtaining the CBV designation
  • Experience analyzing company financial statements and preparing financial models
  • Experience with mid-market transactions including investment banking, corporate finance and/or transaction services preferred
