OUR M&A TEAM

At Sequeira Partners, we are a dynamic and collaborative team specializing in M&A advisory services for both private and public companies across multiple industries. Our approach combines deep technical expertise with clear, strategic communication to guide every deal to a successful close. Our trusted advisors work closely with clients and their tax and legal teams to navigate the complexities of the transaction process with confidence and precision.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Sequeira Partners is hiring a full-time Senior Associate, M&A to join our office in Calgary or Edmonton and support the continued growth of our firm. This is an opportunity for a designated professional with proven transaction experience, strong technical ability, sound judgement, and a genuine interest in becoming a trusted advisor to business owners across Western Canada. The successful candidate will work closely with senior deal team members, take ownership of key workstreams across the transaction lifecycle, review and coach junior team members, and contribute to Sequeira’s continued position as one of Western Canada’s leading mid‑market M&A advisors.

At the Senior Associate level, you will deepen your professional foundation: leading important pieces of active mandates, strengthening your judgment as an advisor, helping junior team members develop, and continuing to build the entrepreneurial mindset required to succeed in M&A.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare, refine and review client proposals, information memorandums, management presentations and other transaction materials with a focus on clear, polished and client‑ready work product
  • Provide insightful industry, company, buyer and transaction research that helps senior team members advise clients and identify transaction opportunities
  • Identify issues or inconsistencies in client information, investigate potential solutions and communicate findings to senior team members and clients in a clear, practical manner
  • Manage key aspects of buyer due diligence, including building and maintaining electronic data rooms and coordinating responses to information requests
  • Research, assess and prioritize prospective purchasers, sector participants and referral relationships to support both active engagements and business development priorities
  • Review work prepared by Analysts and Associates for accuracy, completeness and presentation quality before senior team review
  • Build, review and maintain integrated financial models from client financial statements and supporting information
  • Prepare forecasts, earnings analyses, discounted cash flow models, leveraged buyout scenarios and merger models with limited supervision while demonstrating strong self‑check habits and attention to detail
  • Research and analyze comparable transactions and public company trading metrics in support of private company valuations and transaction materials
  • Apply efficient quality‑control procedures to produce accurate work with minimal rework
Business Development Assistance
  • Conduct industry, transaction and target‑company research to identify prospective clients, understand targeted businesses and contribute to Sequeira’s market intelligence
  • Prepare market maps and help identify prospective clients, buyers and referral opportunities across Sequeira’s target geographies and industries
  • Maintain current activity, target and follow‑up information in Sequeira’s database and project management systems, coordinating with partners to keep records accurate
  • Draft pitches and presentations for prospective clients and influencer groups
  • Build an external network with peers and contribute to firm initiatives such as newsletters, market updates, post‑deal marketing, research projects and targeted business development campaigns
CREDENTIALS
  • CPA designation or another relevant professional designation
  • Secondary designation, such as the CBV, is optional but encouraged
  • Approximately five or more years of relevant work experience, including meaningful mid‑market transaction experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services or a related field
  • Experience across the full M&A deal lifecycle, including buyer research, financial modelling, core marketing materials, electronic data rooms, due diligence and pitch preparation
  • Strong financial statement analysis, financial modelling and written communication skills
CHARACTERISTICS WE LOOK FOR — ALIGNED WITH OUR DNA
  • A self‑starter who can work through files with limited supervision and exercise sound judgement when issues arise
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to take responsibility for multiple priorities and consistently meet internal and client deadlines
  • A drive for excellence — someone who cares about quality, details, practical outcomes and work that earns trust
  • A team‑first mindset — someone who is responsive, candid, curious, coachable and willing to seek feedback, support teammates and coach Analysts and Associates
  • Confidence asking probing follow‑up questions of senior team members and clients, paired with timely and professional communication
  • An entrepreneurial spirit — someone who looks for ways to learn, improve, build relationships, share more efficient ways of working and make the firm better
