Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage merchandising departments including Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing, and Electrical.
• Manage store associates, customer service, safety standards, product availability, store appearance, and profitability.
• Coach, train, and develop associates and Department Supervisors on customer service, operational excellence, merchandise, and services.
• Drive customer service, associate engagement, sales performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain on-shelf availability through pack downs, on-hand adjustments, quality walks, shrink monitoring, and clearance processes.
• Assist with recruitment, interviews, hiring decisions, performance management, training, development, compensation, discipline, and terminations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hazmat, PPE, lifting, equipment-distance, checklist, and environmental procedures.
• Analyze sales and productivity, identify trends, create game plans, and communicate company objectives and priorities.
• Perform opening, closing, manager-on-duty, store kickoff, hand-off, staffing, attendance, and whole-store responsibilities.
• Maintain merchandising, displays, signage, pricing, organization, and store appearance standards.
• Partner with the Store Manager, other Assistant Store Managers, Department Supervisors, Asset Protection, NOASM/NRM, MET, and merchandising field teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma and/or GED

• Ability to continuously stand or walk
• Ability to regularly lift, handle, or carry materials or equipment weighing 8-20 pounds
• Ability to follow safety and hazmat procedures and Safety Matters guidelines
• Ability to use proper personal protective equipment and lifting techniques
