Job Description
As the MEP Manager, you will oversee all MEP activities on-site, ensuring the smooth coordination and execution of work. You will manage the project coordinator, who will provide you with regular updates, and will be responsible for identifying, addressing, and escalating any issues or errors to the MEP Construction Manager as needed. A strong understanding of the sequence of MEP and Civil activities is essential, as you will need to effectively coordinate across disciplines and provide guidance and support to the MEP coordinators on-site. In collaboration with the scheduling team, you will also track progress, identify potential risks, and proactively raise issues to ensure timely resolution and prevent delays.
- Manage the implementation of MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm Systems) during construction, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Assess constructability and collaborate with the design team to refine the design as needed.
- Collaborate closely with MEP subcontractors to manage and oversee on-site MEP activities.
- Work with discipline leaders and subject matter experts to develop and standardize processes, tools, systems, and templates for project execution.
- Manage the ICD related to MEP interface in construction.
- Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with other project components.
- Provide ongoing support to internal teams with timely site updates, ensuring smooth project handover and continuity.
- Monitor the progress of MEP-related activities, ensuring alignment with project plans and timely achievement of milestones.
- Partner with document control teams to enforce strict adherence to document management protocols and guidelines.
- Identify potential risks to project progress and proactively recommend mitigating actions.
- Report regularly to MEP Construction Manager on project status, achievements, risks, deliverables, and integration needs.
- Participate in governance meetings to support discipline-specific planning and reporting activities.
- Supervise and mentor MEP coordinators, promoting best practices in installation and safety protocols
Required Skills And Competencies
- An Engineering / Engineering Technologist / Construction Technology Diploma, Degree, or Post-grad Certificate required.
- 8-10 years of experience in the infrastructure industry, with a proven track record.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the full MEP scope, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Suppression systems.
- Experience with large-scale, complex projects, particularly in Joint Ventures with multiple interfaces, is highly preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and design details.
- Previous experience in transit-related projects is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to engage with teams and manage project support to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Capable of working independently, maintaining accuracy and focus under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to see projects through from inception to successful implementation.
Work Conditions
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License G or G2.
- Mobility is essential, must be willing to travel to where site-jobs are located across Toronto.
- May require extended working hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet project deadlines.
