A non-profit organization is seeking mentors to assist newcomers in Canada by providing guidance in their new community and helping them with career advancement and social integration. The role is virtual, and various language proficiencies are advantageous. This ongoing opportunity aims to connect individuals to local resources and support their transition in Canada.
Mentors are people who help newcomers learn about Canadian customs and language and help people to establish their knowledge of their new community.
As a mentor, you will be working with Newcomer Mentees who want to jump-start their life in Canada by being connected to local people and learning about all the amazing local assets and activities in their new community. There are two types of mentoring: career mentoring, which is focused on helping the mentee advance in their career, and social mentoring, which involves a more informal approach that can include orientation to our community and practicing English.
No specific requirements are listed, but skills and experience in strategic planning, career counseling, employment counseling, life coaching, newcomer support services, coaching, and mentoring are preferred.
This is an ongoing opportunity with 10 openings available. If you are interested in volunteering, you can share your interest and may still be a fit for a different opportunity with the organization.
