The Mental Health Worker provides a variety of housing and shelter services including case planning, programming, assisting with daily physical and emotional supports, responding to overdoses, administering first aid and Naloxone, accepting referrals, registering, orienting, and advocating for clients.
We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in working with clients who are currently vulnerably housed or experiencing homelessness, as well as those who have previously experienced housing vulnerability. In this role, you will work collaboratively with your team to advocate for clients and provide them with client-centered support, including connecting them to external resources.
To succeed, you will have an excellent understanding of the issues faced by our client group. This includes experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who face multiple barriers, such as substance use, mental health concerns, low incomes, and negative impacts of colonialism and racism.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma in a related Social or Human Services field.
Experience
- At least two (2) years of experience working in a related environment or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Direct experience in the community social services sector with a working knowledge of community support agencies and resources is preferred.
Requirements
- Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C.
- Successful completion of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.
Job Information
Hourly Wage Rate (with overnight premium): $32.18 – $35.49
Note: The base wage rate for this position is $30.18 – $33.49. An overnight premium of $2.00/hour applies to shifts that go past midnight.

Shift Time: 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM

- Week 1 to Week 4: Wednesday

Portability
Upon hire, candidates may be eligible to transfer hours previously worked at other Community Social Services agencies under the Retention and Portability Memorandum of Agreement. Eligibility is subject to specific conditions and restrictions.
