Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Mental Health Therapist (MHT) is responsible for providing specialized mental health assessment and consultation services to clients within the ODP/NTS program. This is an advanced clinical position involving assessment, provisional diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for individuals with addiction and mental health issues, specifically addressing concurrent issues related to OUD and trauma. The therapist may also perform case management and coordination tasks. They collaborate with healthcare and community service providers to ensure comprehensive addiction and mental health care in the community. Knowledge of community resources is essential for making appropriate referrals. This position is set to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024; successful applicants will transition accordingly.

Description:

As a Mental Health Therapist, you will employ various treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to individuals experiencing significant mental health challenges. Working independently and within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-informed practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work (clinical), Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing with relevant training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy.
  • Active or eligible registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Equivalent education and experience, including Bachelor's degrees with specific authorizations or experience in mental health assessment and intervention, are considered.
  • Competency in concurrent capable practice within addiction and mental health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Connect Care experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta Health Services' continuum of Addiction and Mental Health services and community-based resources addressing social determinants of health.
