Mental Health Therapist – Alberta Virtual Pain Program

Opportunity Overview

This remote, provincial role offers the chance to be part of the Alberta Virtual Pain Program (AVPP), impacting over 900,000 Albertans living with chronic pain. Reporting to the Program Manager within Health Link 811, you'll develop and deliver education and self-management tools through virtual classes, webinars, and online resources, collaborating with patients, clinicians, and researchers across Alberta. This is a temporary position affiliated with Primary Care Alberta.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize various modalities (individual, family, group) to treat individuals with significant mental health issues.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide crisis intervention, assessments, consultations, referrals, case management, and evidence-based treatments.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work (clinical), Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing, with active registration or eligibility in Alberta.
  • At least 10 years of frontline mental health care experience, including 5 years working with chronic pain patients.
  • Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Office, and electronic health platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health/substance use concerns, crisis intervention, and virtual group facilitation skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
  • Experience with geographically dispersed teams, program evaluation, project management, and EMR systems like Connect Care.
