Position Details

Position Status: Temporary Part Time. Term Ends: March 30, 2026. Location: Signal Pointe, Social Work Complex LTC BW. Hours: 46.00. FTE: 0.59. Shift: Days. Shift Times: 0900-1515. Union: AUPE GSS. Rate of Pay: $25.46 - $30.13. PCN: 32MHSW03. Date Competition closes: September 12, 2025.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, and under the direct or indirect supervision of the Social Worker or other assigned Regulated staff, the Mental Health Support Worker is an unregulated member of the interdisciplinary team who provides ongoing encouragement and support to clients with complex mental health, behavioural and/or addiction diagnoses. The Mental Health Support Worker observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in mental, emotional and general physical status. The Mental Health Support Worker ensures that changes in client status are reported to the assigned Regulated staff member. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program summary

Complex Care – for frail seniors who require the care of an interdisciplinary team to maintain and improve quality of life in safe, comfortable and supportive environments. Carewest offers a mix of secured and unsecured units.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or degree from a health or disability related field is required

  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English is required
