Job summary

Dilico Anishinabek Family Care in Thunder Bay, ON is seeking a Mental Health Registered Nurse (MHRN) to provide compassionate, person-centered care across communities. Under the direction of the Program Manager, you will assess needs, deliver care, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

The role focuses on supporting individuals with mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression, emphasizing recovery, wellness, and harm prevention.

Qualifications

• RN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Experience in mental health and/or community nursing.
• Knowledge of mental health conditions, assessment tools, and treatment approaches.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and case management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health and risk assessments.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Provide ongoing monitoring and follow-up care to support recovery and stability.
• Administer long-acting injectable medications.
• Monitor medication effectiveness, adherence, and side effects.
• Identify early signs of risk and intervene to prevent harm.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions and supportive counseling.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate holistic care.
• Provide education to individuals, families, and communities on mental health, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
• Contribute to program evaluation and continuous service improvement.
• Travel regularly to community locations to provide outreach and direct care.
