Mental Health Counsellor


Reporting to the Director of Community Wellness, the Mental Health Counsellor plays a key role in supporting community, family, and individual wellness. This position focuses on education, health promotion, and prevention in the areas of addiction, family violence, and mental health.

You will be a first point of contact for clients; offering assessment, screening, aftercare, follow-up, and personal development support. This role involves travel between Dettah, Ndilo, and Yellowknife, so a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Diploma in Social Sciences and at least 2 years of relevant experience in addictions, mental health, or family violence; OR
  • A Certificate in Addictions Counselling and 3 years of front-line experience as a Social Worker; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and at least 4 years of directly related experience.
  • A proven track record as a positive role model.
