The salary range for this position is CAD $24.80/Hr.

Job Summary

Come work as a Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker in Sechelt, BC with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Vancouver Coastal Health is hiring Mental Health and Addictions Support Workers through the Health Career Access Program (HCAP). Successful candidates will be eligible to work as Mental Health and Addictions Workers or Community Liaison Workers upon completing the training.

This program requires a minimum commitment of about 21 months, including training and work hours. Candidates should be available 37.5 hours per week, including mornings, evenings, and weekends during the program. They will also work as Mental Health Support Workers for at least 20 days before starting school. The education portion lasts approximately eight to ten months. After graduation, employees must fulfill a 12-month Return of Service Agreement.

Funding covers 100% of wages, tuition, and books during training.

Applicants will be assigned to schools based on seat availability.

As a Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker, you will:

  • Assist under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other healthcare professional, performing non-clinical duties to support individuals with mental health or substance use challenges and their families, promoting independence.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 (including English 12) or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License; local travel may require a vehicle.
