Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience working in addictions and mental health.
  • Current Standard CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

As a Mental Health & Addictions Specialist you will provide direct care to clients to facilitate confidential counselling, supervising medication schedules, and evaluate the progress of individuals experiencing addictions. You will also be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of clients in accordance to the care plan while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to determine the best possible care for the clients.

Your Role

  • Coordinate intake procedures and conduct individual assessments for adults experiencing concerns related to alcohol and drug use.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, develop intervention and treatment plans, treatment coordination and complete administrative tasks.
  • Guide and monitor clients through a progression of recovery, including supportive counselling following the client’s identified care plan.
  • Develop interventions and treatment plans with clients with the ability to match treatment services to client’s unique circumstances.
  • Determine the need for additional supports post-treatment and resources with the client by coordinating access and bridging with treatment centers and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team within the Organization.
  • Provide counselling sessions for individuals on disability claims with the goal of returning to work
  • Deliver assessments relating to substance patterns or addiction issues as well as any possible mental health issues using standardized assessment, testing, and reporting protocols.

What You Will Need To Be Successful

  • Certified Social Worker or equivalent
  • Member in good standing with applicable provincial governing body
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience working in addictions and mental health.
  • Knowledge of case management.
  • Experienced in the concepts of resistance, engagement and resilience in the area of addictions and mental health disorders.
  • Current Standard CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months
  • SAE Certification would be an asset.
  • CACCF Certification would be an asset.
  • Training and demonstrated skill in at least one clinical modality.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle is required
