Qualifications

Registered Social Worker or Psychotherapist
Independent Contractor (On-site Probation & Parole office)

Schedule:

  • Belleville: 3-hour day, one day per week
  • Trenton: 6-hour day, two days per month
  • Smith Falls: 7-hour day, one day per month

Join our Team

In collaboration with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, we seek a registered social worker or psychotherapist experienced in supporting marginalized individuals facing complex challenges such as mental health issues, addictions, social exclusion, and justice system involvement.

The Impact You'll Make

As a vital team member, you'll provide in-person counseling to clients referred by the Ministry, working within a probation and parole office. Your expertise will help clients overcome challenges, build resilience, and support recovery and reintegration, contributing to healthier, more stable communities.

Here's How

Clinical:

  • Contact clients within required timeframes based on risk level, following referral and scheduling protocols.
  • Meet with clients and referral agents to review counseling processes.
  • Assess clients, collaboratively set goals, and develop strategies.
  • Provide short to medium-term counseling to help clients meet their goals.
  • Offer ongoing support in person, virtually, or by phone, as trained.
  • Refer clients to community resources and act as a case manager.
  • Facilitate client contact with external resources, liaising and advocating as needed.
  • Provide written/verbal information with client and referral agent consent.
  • Monitor open cases, follow up on progress and satisfaction.

Administrative:

  • Consult with supervisors and colleagues regarding cases.
  • Respond to calls/emails from referral sources and clients, confirming case details.
  • Follow confidentiality protocols in case booking.
  • Ensure timely case closures and documentation.
  • Meet billing and case closure targets.
  • Support TELUS Health’s growth and reflect its values outside the organization.
  • Comply with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Membership in Ontario's professional colleges (OCSWSSW or CRPO).
  • Minimum two years post-graduate counseling experience.
  • Professional liability insurance.
  • Availability during business hours.
  • Experience with complex issues, including mental health, addictions, homelessness, social exclusion, domestic violence, anger management, anti-criminal thinking, sexual offenses, and justice involvement.
  • Proficiency in assessing and treating substance use concerns.
  • Strong knowledge of local community resources and ability to work with diverse clients.
  • Experience with mandated clients is an asset.
