Job description

About Stem Health

Stem Health is reimagining the primary care experience for individuals who want a more thoughtful relationship with their health. Physician-led and membership-based, we combine medical excellence with the warmth of hospitality anchored in a beautifully designed flagship clinic at First Canadian Place, opening September 2026. Our care model is relationship-based, data-informed, and built on time, trust, and exceptional service.

Position Summary

Men's health has historically been underserved not because men don't need care, but because the healthcare system has rarely made it easy for them to seek it. Stem Health is changing that building a men's health program that is clinical in its rigour, proactive in its approach, and designed around the kind of trusted, longitudinal physician relationship that makes real health change possible.

We are looking for a physician with focused expertise in men's health to lead this program. You will deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care across the full spectrum of men's health hormonal optimization, sexual health, cardiovascular and metabolic risk, prostate and urological health, and the psychological dimensions of male health and wellbeing. You will work as an integrated member of Stem Health's physician team, with access to advanced diagnostics, a multidisciplinary clinical team, and a member population that is engaged, motivated, and ready to invest in their health.

Experience in executive healthcare, concierge medicine, or high-acuity private practice is a significant asset. This is a role for a physician who can speak to a man's health comprehensively and who understands that getting there requires both clinical expertise and the kind of physician presence that makes men feel genuinely heard.

Comprehensive men's health assessment
  • Conduct thorough, individualized men's health assessments integrating medical history, lifestyle factors, symptom burden, sexual function, hormonal status, cardiometabolic risk, urological health, and psychological wellbeing into a complete clinical picture.
  • Order and interpret a comprehensive men's health laboratory panel including total and free testosterone, LH, FSH, SHBG, estradiol, PSA, lipids, HbA1c, fasting insulin, thyroid function, CBC, CMP, vitamin D, and inflammatory markers to establish each member's full hormonal and metabolic baseline.
  • Integrate body composition data (DEXA lean mass, fat mass, visceral adipose tissue) and resting metabolic rate (RMR) into hormonal and metabolic health assessments, recognizing the bidirectional relationship between body composition, testosterone, and cardiometabolic risk.
  • Screen for and evaluate comorbidities that significantly affect men's health outcomes, including obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and mood disorders ensuring these are addressed as part of the integrated care plan.
Hormonal health and testosterone optimization
  • Diagnose and manage hypogonadism (primary and secondary) and age-related testosterone decline using a rigorous, evidence-based clinical framework distinguishing between symptomatic hypogonadism requiring treatment and normal age-related variation.
  • Prescribe and manage testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) across appropriate delivery modalities (topical gels, injectable testosterone, pellets) with careful attention to dosing, monitoring, safety, and patient preference.
  • Monitor and manage TRT-related parameters including haematocrit, PSA, lipid profile, blood pressure, testicular volume, and fertility implications conducting structured follow-up assessments at appropriate intervals.
  • Evaluate and manage related hormonal conditions including elevated estradiol, DHEA‑S insufficiency, thyroid dysfunction, growth hormone deficiency, and adrenal fatigue within the context of men's hormonal health.
  • Advise on and manage hormonal health optimization in men not yet meeting clinical criteria for TRT addressing subclinical hormonal imbalance, lifestyle-modifiable hormonal factors, and evidence-based supplementation as part of a comprehensive hormonal health plan.
Sexual health and function
  • Evaluate and manage erectile dysfunction (ED) through a comprehensive clinical lens assessing vascular, hormonal, neurological, psychological, and pharmacological contributors, and developing individualized treatment plans that address underlying aetiology rather than symptom suppression alone.
  • Prescribe and manage pharmacotherapy for sexual dysfunction, including PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil), hormone-based approaches, and emerging therapies, with appropriate safety screening and longitudinal follow-up.
  • Evaluate and manage premature ejaculation, reduced libido, orgasmic dysfunction, and other male sexual health concerns with clinical competence and the discretion and sensitivity these presentations require.
  • Address the psychological and relational dimensions of sexual health concerns making appropriate referrals to mental health colleagues when indicated, and integrating psychosexual health into the member's broader wellbeing plan.
  • Conduct or coordinate Doppler penile ultrasound and other vascular assessments of erectile function where clinically indicated and available.
Cardiovascular and metabolic health
  • Apply a men's health lens to cardiovascular risk assessment recognizing that testosterone deficiency, visceral adiposity, insulin resistance, and sexual dysfunction are themselves cardiometabolic risk markers, and integrating this understanding into preventive care planning.
  • Develop and monitor individualized cardiometabolic risk reduction plans encompassing lipid management, blood pressure optimization, glycaemic control, body composition improvement, and lifestyle medicine - in close collaboration with Stem Health's primary care physicians and cardiologist.
  • Advise on the cardiovascular implications of testosterone therapy and apply evidence-based monitoring protocols (per current Endocrine Society and Canadian Urological Association guidelines) to ensure safe, effective TRT management.
  • Contribute to Stem Health's executive health and longevity programming integrating men's hormonal, cardiovascular, metabolic, and functional health data into comprehensive preventive health assessments.
Prostate and urological health
  • Screen for prostate cancer risk using PSA kinetics, clinical risk stratification, and shared decision-making guiding members through the evidence, the nuance, and the decision that is right for them individually.
  • Evaluate and manage lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) including pharmacotherapy and coordinated referral to urology where appropriate.
  • Monitor and manage members on active surveillance for low-risk prostate cancer in coordination with their urologist, serving as the primary care integrator for this aspect of their health.
  • Provide guidance on testicular health, varicocele, and male fertility concerns conducting appropriate clinical evaluation and coordinating referral to reproductive urology when indicated.
Mental health and male wellbeing
  • Screen for and address depression, anxiety, burnout, and stress as they present in a predominantly male, high-performing membership recognizing that men frequently underreport psychological symptoms and that the clinical relationship must create the conditions for these conversations to happen.
  • Evaluate the bidirectional relationship between mental health, hormonal status, sleep quality, and physical health in each member integrating psychological wellbeing into the holistic men's health care plan.
  • Make warm, clinician-to-clinician referrals to Stem Health's mental health team when indicated, maintaining oversight of the member's integrated care.
Interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation
  • Work closely with Stem Health's primary care physicians, kinesiologist, care coordinator, and allied health team to ensure men's health findings and treatment plans are fully integrated into each member's Unified Health Story.
  • Collaborate with the kinesiologist on exercise prescriptions that account for hormonal status, body composition, cardiovascular fitness, and recovery optimizing the synergy between TRT, lifestyle modification, and physical training.
  • Document all assessments, prescriptions, laboratory results, monitoring data, and care plan updates accurately and promptly within the clinic's EHR platform.
  • Maintain full licensure in good standing with the CPSO and adhere to all applicable standards of practice, prescribing guidelines, and CME/MOC requirements relevant to men's health and hormone therapy.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) and full licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) required.
  • Residency training in Family Medicine (CCFP) or Internal Medicine (FRCPC); additional training or fellowship in men's health, urology, or endocrinology is a significant asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience with a focused practice or demonstrated expertise in men's health, hormone optimization, or sexual medicine.
  • Clinical proficiency in testosterone replacement therapy including patient selection, protocol design, prescribing across modalities, and structured safety monitoring per current Endocrine Society, Canadian Urological Association, and ISSM guidelines.
  • Experience evaluating and managing erectile dysfunction, LUTS/BPH, and male sexual health concerns as a core clinical competency.
  • Familiarity with interpreting advanced hormonal panels and integrating body composition (DEXA) and metabolic data (RMR) into men's health care plans.
  • Understanding of cardiometabolic risk in men and the hormonal‑cardiovascular‑metabolic interplay that defines men's health at the population level.
  • Experience in executive healthcare, concierge medicine, or private clinic practice is a significant asset.
  • Comfortable discussing sensitive clinical topics sexual function, mental health, hormonal changes, fertility with warmth, clinical confidence, and discretion.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills credible and approachable with a high-performing, health-engaged male membership.
  • Current CMPA professional liability coverage required.
Ideal Candidate

You understand that getting a man to talk honestly about his health his energy, his libido, his mood, his fears — is itself a clinical skill, and you have spent years developing it. You are as comfortable reviewing a testosterone panel and a DEXA body composition report as you are sitting with a member who is trying to articulate something he has never said out loud before. You practice with rigour and prescribe with precision, but you also know that the most important thing you do in a men's health appointment often happens before the bloodwork comes back. You want to practice in an environment that is worthy of that standard.

Why Join Stem Health
  • Build and lead Stem Health's men's health program from the ground up with the clinical infrastructure, diagnostics, and interdisciplinary team to do it properly.
  • Practice at a physician-led, membership-based clinic at First Canadian Place founding team, opening September 2026 with a motivated, health-engaged male membership and the time to care for them well.
  • Unhurried appointments, a managed panel, and a Unified Health Story that connects your hormonal, metabolic, and sexual health work to every other dimension of each member's care.
  • A collaborative multidisciplinary team primary care physicians, kinesiologist, mental health clinicians, and allied health providers who treat men's health as a clinical priority.
  • Competitive compensation in a part-time or contract model designed to fit around your broader clinical practice.
