Overview

Position: Men’s Group Facilitator - Spirit of Peace. Type: Permanent, full-time (Mon – Wed, & Fri 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Thurs 11 am – 7 pm).

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is seeking an individual to facilitate and support Group processes. The successful candidate will understand the Centre’s Strategic Plan and how this enhances services provided to youth and the community. The Spirit of Peace Men’s Facilitator will be responsible for the implementation of a Spirit of Peace program that supports the well-being of men.

Responsibilities

Note: Responsibilities are described through the role’s purpose and expectations in relation to facilitating group processes and implementing the Spirit of Peace program.

Qualifications
  • Understanding of family violence theory and dynamics within the context of the Indigenous community;
  • Post secondary education/training and or direct service experience related to family violence;
  • Ability to complete monthly and quarterly reports;
  • Extensive experience in conducting/facilitating group work;
  • Excellent report writing skills;
  • Competent in providing one-on-one counseling;
  • Respectful in order to engage people and build helping relationships;
  • Team player/facilitator in order to encourage an environment that fosters effective results in teams;
  • Ability to work with a high level of independence;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Must have excellent communication skills;
  • Must provide current (within the last three months) Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Query, Child Abuse Registry Check and be subject to a Prior Contact Check.
