Role Overview

AMD is seeking a lead systems engineer with strong technical expertise to contribute to all aspects of post-silicon development, including validation, silicon bring-up, and debug of processor and graphics-based systems. This role involves working closely with internal teams to meet product milestones and requires a broad knowledge of system design lifecycle, especially in validation documentation and execution.

The core focus areas include system interconnect fabric, caches, and shared memory blocks of complex SoCs, requiring a solid hardware architecture background.

The Person

You are a motivated leader with a strong engineering background, problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to prioritize and adapt. Teamwork, leadership, and cross-geography collaboration are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Participate in system design validation from pre-silicon to post-silicon phases.
  2. Lead technical presentations and collaborate with design, software, and tools teams.
  3. Drive testing, debugging methodologies, and issue resolution during various development phases.
  4. Support team culture fostering knowledge sharing and excellence.
  5. Define and implement validation strategies and test plans.
  6. Coordinate with design, diagnostics, driver, and project teams.
  7. Lead discussions on root cause analysis and technical innovations for validation capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in computer architecture and microarchitecture.
  • Experience with IP/system level bring-up and validation.
  • Knowledge of system fabric protocols (e.g., PCIe, CXL, UCIe) and memory coherency systems.
  • Hardware debugging, memory optimization, and virtualization experience.
  • Familiarity with FPGA/emulation platforms, BIOS, OS, and driver interactions.
  • Understanding of boot flows and lab equipment.

Additional Experience

  • Experience in pre/post-silicon validation, scripting skills (Python, C/C++), and SOC debug techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple issues independently and organize effectively.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer or Electrical Engineering or related field.
