Job summary

A local First Nations organization in La Ronge is seeking a Medical Transportation Clerk to provide clerical support and coordinate medical transportation for clients. Responsibilities include answering calls, maintaining filing systems, and preparing medical forms. Applicants should have a Certificate in Administration and proficiency in MS Office. Speaking Cree is an asset. Valid Class 5 Driver's License required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate in Administration; combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential.
  • Able to work within multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working within a First Nations Organization and/or working with First Nations is an asset.
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset.
  • Must have valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general office functions: incoming calls, typing, maintain filing system.
  • Coordinate and distribute mail and supplies, and book appointments.
  • Maintain adequate general office supply inventory for the Medical Transportation Call Centre.
  • Prepare necessary forms, certificates, and medical attendance.
  • Coordinate medical transportation efficiently.
  • Inform and educate the Band Membership about patient transportation assistance.
  • Assist clients with making appointments.
  • Prepare month-end reports and monthly inventory reports.

Job description

We are looking for a responsible, efficient and organized person to help with day-to-day reception, clerical support & medical transportation for in-town & out-of-town travel arrangements to help our clients of LLRIB. The successful candidate will also be responsible for Informing and educating the band membership of the First Nations and Inuit Health (FNIH) roles and responsibilities of patient transportation assistance along with the client’s responsibilities when they require assistance for medical travel. About the facility: The Medical Transportation Program is located at the Jeannie Bird Clinic in La Ronge. This position will provide clerical transportation assistance to the community of La Ronge.

About the position: Medical Transportation Clerks provide general office functions such as taking incoming calls, typing, maintaining filing system, coordinating appointments for clients & distributing incoming mail or supplies. They also prepare forms such as certificates, medical attendance and transportation warrants.

Duties:

  • Provide general office functions: incoming calls, typing, maintain filing system, operating office equipment, coordinate & distribute mail & supplies, appointment bookings;
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, record, type and distribute minutes;
  • Maintain adequate general office supply inventory for the Medical Transportation Call Centre;
  • Preparing necessary forms, certificates and medical attendance, transportation warrants and distributes copies as necessary;
  • Coordinating the medical transportation to ensure maximum economy and efficiency;
  • Informing and education the Band Membership of the First Nations and Inuit Health (FNIH) role and responsibilities of patient transportation assistance and client responsibilities when medical travel assistance is required;
  • Coordinating appointments with attending Physician’s clinics;
  • Assist clients with making appointments as necessary;
  • Prepare month-end reports and monthly inventory reports;
