Responsibilities

1. Perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests in all laboratory disciplines following standard operating policies and procedures.
2. Understand method principles, perform quality control, perform preventative maintenance, review, and analyze results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure

For West Virginia Labs:

• WV Licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) within 90 days of hire if performing final result reporting of moderate/high complexity testing.
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science or a related physical, chemical, or biological science with one year of clinical lab training/experience.
• Alternatively, under CLIA for those who performed testing prior to April 24, 1995, with documentation of appropriate training.

For Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland Labs:

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science or a related science.
• Alternatively, under CLIA for testing performed prior to April 24, 1995, with documentation of appropriate training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT.
• Experience as a Medical Technologist.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Process and analyze samples, set up and maintain laboratory instruments, perform quality control, conduct phlebotomy, report findings, and ensure safety and compliance.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, move, stand, walk, and perform other physical tasks necessary for laboratory work.

Working Environment

Work around odors, potential exposure to agents causing disease, and in various environmental conditions.
