Duties, Description, Primary Duties and Responsibilities
As a Medical Specialist, you actively participate in diagnosing and treating patients within your specialized field. You advise and confer with members of other disciplines to ensure patients benefit from an overall specialized program of care. Medical Specialists 2 serve as senior practicing specialists within a recognized discipline of medicine.

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a medical license in New York State and certification by a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.
Applicants must not be listed on any Federal or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists. If listed later, employment may be terminated.
Appointees may need to become enrolled Medicare providers, obtain an NPI number, and participate actively in billing through Medicare and Medicaid. Loss of billing capability may lead to employment termination.
Maintaining your license, permit, or certification is essential; loss may result in removal from the position.
Limited license/permit holders licensed in other states or Canada may be eligible if they meet other requirements and obtain a New York State license within one year of issuance of their limited permit. Failure to do so will result in removal from the position.
Additional credentials or background checks may be required for some positions.
