RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB PURPOSE

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will be responsible for applying your non-promotional medical expertise to ensure the safe and effective use of GSK’s products through impactful scientific interactions and support of key external and internal stakeholders in alignment with the therapeutic area Medical Plan. In this role, you will collaborate with field partners in a stakeholder-centric approach to provide credible scientific and clinical information about our vaccines to healthcare professionals, external experts, organizations, and decision-makers, consistent with GSK’s principles for scientific engagement. This is a therapeutically aligned, field-based position requiring frequent travel within British Columbia.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be expected to:

  1. Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts by presenting balanced scientific data, supporting advanced medical educational opportunities, and providing scientific support following industry standards and GSK policies.
  2. Be recognized as the scientific field-based partner in the territory with a deep understanding of diseases, vaccines, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and knowledge translation aligned with business strategy.
  3. Engage and provide value to internal and external stakeholders in a non-promotional manner, being responsive to unsolicited inquiries.
  4. Serve as a proactive, solutions-oriented partner between the healthcare community and GSK cross-functional teams, gathering and sharing insights to inform business strategies.
  5. Represent GSK at scientific congresses by leading external expert engagement, providing session coverage, staffing booths, and contributing to congress summaries.
  6. Provide scientific training for GSK commercial colleagues on products and conditions treated, utilizing approved training materials.
  7. Assist the medical, clinical, and HEOR teams with evidence generation projects and support clinical trial site identification in Canada as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Excellent English scientific and medical discussion skills (fluent written and verbal communication).
  • An advanced postgraduate scientific degree (MD, Ph.D., PharmD).
  • Successful candidates must reside within British Columbia.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on cross-functional teamwork and strategic execution.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing medical information exchange within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with reimbursement processes in Canada.
  • A valid driver’s license for this field-based role.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% within the territory, including evenings and weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a medical affairs role, preferably field-based, with established networks in cardiology, endocrinology, or nephrology.
