Overview

Occupation: Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT)

Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures
  • Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
  • Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners
  • Position patients
  • Assist radiation oncologists and clinical physicists with preparation of radiation treatment plan
  • Wear radiation detection equipment to acquire data for use by nuclear medicine physicians in the diagnosis of disease
  • Assist in the preparation of sealed radioactive materials and the construction of plaster casts and acrylic moulds to assist with administration of radiation treatment
  • Apply radiation protection measures
  • Explain procedures and side effects of radiation
  • Record and process patient data
  • Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination
Qualifications
  • Certification of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists
  • Education: College/CEGEP
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Work setting and conditions
  • Work setting: Hospital/medical facility or clinic
  • Location: Windsor, ON
  • Work location: On site
  • On-site work required; no remote option
  • Work under pressure; attention to detail; fast-paced environment; combination of sitting, standing, and walking; manual dexterity
Hours and compensation
