Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II to work as the sole CT technologist on the night shift (7-on/7-off) at Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre.

You will perform CT imaging, manage trauma and acute care studies, collaborate with physicians and nursing staff, and maintain imaging equipment. Must be eligible for ACMDTT registration and BCLS-HCP, with IV certification and at least 3 years in acute/trauma settings.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist program.
• Active or eligible for registration with ACMDTT.
• Current BCLS-HCP certification.
• Cross-sectional anatomy courses in progress or completed.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in acute care and/or trauma center.
• IV Certification.

The ideal candidate is an experienced and confident CT technologist who can work independently as the sole CT technologist on night shift on a 7-on/7-off rotation. You demonstrate strong judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills and are comfortable managing trauma, acute care patients, competing priorities, and changing clinical demands. You possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. You are self-directed, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining and advancing your CT knowledge and skills. You must also be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting, carrying, or transferring patients and supplies weighing over 50 lbs.

Description

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.

Required Qualifications

Completion of a diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications

Cross-sectional anatomy courses in progress or completed. Work experience in Computed Tomography emergency, inpatient programs, and outpatient referrals. IV Certification. Minimum 3 years’ experience in an acute care setting and/or trauma center.

Preferred Qualifications

Computed Tomography Imaging Certificate (CTIC).
